Booch (and Dave) and the Studio (and Friends' Links)

David Himes has been composing in Reading, PA since 1994.  He has known Booch since college but just recently met up with him again.  Booch encouraged Dave to put his studio into high gear and name the web site after him.  He also encouraged Dave to have some cool illustrations made for the site that resemble him.  When Dave saw the work of fellow GoggleWorks artist Tara Espinoza, he knew he had a match.

Our Goals
  • To provide a variety of interesting, eclectic music for the professional studio environment and for the casual listener.
  • To create music for your project that compliments your ideas and yet manages to take your project a step beyond.

Composition Background
Online Orchestration Course - Berklee College of Music (Spring, 2010)
Master of Music from West Chester University in 1996.
Commissions from Reading Choral Society, Berks Classical Children's Chorus, Fall Festival of the Arts, Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading Musical Foundation, Berks Arts Council, Reading High School Symphony Orchestra and private individuals.
Collaborations with Kutztown University World Percussion Ensemble, Reading Pops Orchestra, Berks Movie Madness Film Festival, Camerata String Quartet and New Music of Berks ensembles.

Musical Direction
Director of Berkshire Chorale - 2006 to present
Assistant Director of Reading Choral Society - 2002 to 2005
Music Director for "Camelot," "Swinging on a Star" and "Cole" with Fall Festival of the Arts in Reading, PA

Events and Participation
Wrote original music for 6 musicians to be performed live with the silent movie "Don Juan" at the 2006 Berks Movie Madness festival.
Participated in the 2008 Lehigh University Choral Composers Forum.  Final piece premiered by the Princeton Singers.
Selected to participate in the 2004 Bard College Composer-Conductor Program at the Conductors Institute.
Selected to participate in the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati's Music03 New Music Festival.

Teaching
1988 to present at Wilson School District, Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts and most recently at Reading School District.
